About
Esk Mountain is a 270 acre nature restoration project on the Cork-Kerry border that connects people with the magic of the natural world through immersive, interactive, memory-making experiences that are packed full of flavour.
In 2023 a foraging trail was opened giving visitors the chance to explore mix-species woodland & a tract of temperate rainforest.
In 2024, a woodland kitchen was constructed using natural materials sustainably harvested from within 50 metres – creating a stunning gathering space that is truly of place.
In 2025, a nature trail was opened connecting visitors with a greater mix of habitats & flavours including wet meadow, stream, lake, heath & bog through a series of boardwalks & bridges.
2026 brings the launch of a new accommodation offering & line of products that celebrate & give back to this landscape.

woodland regeneration
Using a mix of no fence grazing systems, deer fencing & deer culling to enable a mosaic of native woodland to return to Esk mountain
PROXY ECOSYSTEM ENGINEERS
A small herd of Dexter cattle & Tamworth pigs are helping to facilitate ecological change
invasive species control
Removing alien invasive plant species such as Rhododendron ponticum from across the site
education & exchange
Sharing nature-focused tours, workshops, seasonal events, student placements & more. Always open to collaborations with like-minded souls
